A swollen battery is urgent
This is the one battery symptom worth acting on immediately. If your trackpad has started clicking oddly, the case no longer sits flat on a desk, or the lid does not close properly, the battery underneath may be swelling. A swollen lithium battery presses on the trackpad and case from inside, can crack the machine open, and is a genuine safety risk. Stop charging it, stop using it if you can, and get it looked at. This is not a repair to put off until it is convenient.
When a battery is worth replacing
Battery health is measurable rather than a matter of opinion, which makes this an unusually easy decision to get right. macOS reports cycle count and condition, and we check both before recommending anything.

Why it is usually worth doing
On a MacBook that is otherwise sound, a battery replacement costs a small fraction of a new machine and buys years of ordinary use. The judgement is whether the rest of the computer justifies it: storage, memory, macOS support and general condition. If those are fine, a battery is one of the clearest good decisions in computer repair. If the machine has other significant problems, we will lay them out before you spend anything.

My MacBook trackpad is clicking strangely. What causes that?
Very often a swelling battery pressing up against the trackpad from underneath. Treat it as urgent — stop charging the machine and have it looked at. A swollen lithium battery can crack the case open and is a safety risk, not just an inconvenience.
How do I check my MacBook battery health?
Hold Option and click the Apple menu, then choose System Information and select Power — it shows cycle count and condition. In System Settings under Battery you will see a status such as Normal or Service Recommended. Tell us what it says and we can advise over the phone.
Is replacing a MacBook battery worth it?
On an otherwise healthy machine, almost always. It costs a fraction of a replacement MacBook and typically returns the computer to full working life. Where the machine also has failing storage, too little memory or no current macOS support, the sums change, and we will say so.
How long does a battery replacement take?
Usually quick once the correct battery is on hand — often collected and returned within a day or two. Availability varies by model, and we will give you a realistic timeframe rather than an optimistic one.
