Why Air screens break the way they do
The Air is thin, light, and lives in a bag — which is exactly the combination that breaks screens. Most of the cracked Airs we see were not dropped. They were closed on something small, or had weight pressed against the lid in a backpack. Students and commuters account for a large share of this work, which is why we see it constantly in the suburbs around the school and university catchments we cover.
What the repair involves
Like the rest of the modern MacBook range, the Air uses a bonded display assembly rather than a separable sheet of glass, so the repair replaces the whole unit. The upside is that a correctly fitted assembly leaves the machine genuinely as it was, with camera, antennas and hinges all new. The work is done on the bench, tested, and returned with a 30-day warranty on the workmanship.
Is an older Air worth repairing?
Frequently yes, and this is where honest advice matters most. A MacBook Air that is a few years old and otherwise healthy is a perfectly good machine, and a screen replacement is far cheaper than a new one. But on a much older Air — particularly one that is also short on storage, out of battery life, and no longer receiving current macOS versions — the sums can stop making sense. We will tell you when that is the case rather than quietly taking the work.

My MacBook Air screen cracked but I never dropped it. How?
That is the usual story with an Air. Closing the lid on something small — a pen, a charger, an earbud case — or pressure in a packed bag is enough to crack the panel. It is the most common cause we see and nothing you did unusually wrong.
Can I keep using it with a cracked screen?
You often can, but it tends to get worse. Cracks spread with each open and close, dust and moisture get in, and a damaged panel can eventually strain the display cable. Getting it done sooner keeps it a screen repair rather than something larger.
